Quick and easy halloween art projects for young children – non-scary funny face pumpkin and handprint spider. Fun projects to try at home and in classrooms.

Starved of the company of her little friends for the weekend it fell to me to keep one little 7yo amused, when amusement was called for, so in between playing monopoly and mermaid games I set her up with some quick Halloween art activities.

Funny Face Pumpkins

Materials Used: A3 paper, black and green crayons, paint, white paper, black paper, glue stick or craft glue

I drew the pumpkin outline and mixed up some orange paint for her and gave her some gently instruction from the side as to what to do next. She painted the pumpkin and coloured the stem with crayon and left it aside to dry. While drying I cut out the eye and mouth from black paper and Molly cut a few random shaped rectangles for the teeth from white paper. And off she went then, with glue-stick in hand, sticking down the shapes to give character to her pumpkins face. She then cut around the entire outside of the pumpkin so she could stick it to the front window.

Handprint Spiders

The plan was to create loads of spiders to hang inside the patio door but Molly wasn’t too keen on having black hands for too long so we made *one* spider :)

With a brush paint the palms of both hands in black, or whatever colour your child will tolerate!! and one hand at a time position the handprints on the paper, as shown, and leave aside for a few minutes to dry. Cut around the handprints and attach the googly eyes for scary or goofy spiders….
